HAFJELL, Norway (March 10, 2017) – The American snowboard slopestyle ladies earned two of three podium spots at X Games Norway on Friday, with Jamie Anderson (South Lake Tahoe, CA) earning silver and Jules Marino (Westport, CT) taking bronze.

Anderson remains podium perfect in X Games slopestyle, earning her 13th medal in 13 starts over the last 11 years. The most decorated slopestyle athlete in X Games history (male or female), Anderson used her trademark smooth, stylish riding to earn her seventh-consecutive X Games silver medal.

Marino is also podium perfect at X Games, having earned three medals in three starts—all of them coming in 2017. The 19 year old earned bronze in big air at Aspen in January and topped the field in slopestyle at Aspen with a gold-medal performance.

LA MOLINA, Spain (Mar. 5, 2017) - Nick Baumgartner (Iron River, MI) scored a World Cup podium finish in difficult, foggy conditions at La Molina on Sunday, finishing third against a stacked, international field.

It was an exciting race from start to finish, with Baumgartner crashing over the first left-hand berm of the course with Italian Omar Visintin and Austrian Lukas Pachner. All three were able to finish the race; Pachner took second ahead of Baumgartner while Pierre Vaultier of France raced free of the crash to take the win.

VAIL, Colorado (March 4, 2017) – American snowboarders dominated the Burton US Open halfpipe event on Saturday, scoring five of six podium spots. Shaun White (Carlsbad, CA) and Chloe Kim (Torrance, CA) each took their second consecutive US Open titles. Elena Hight (South Lake Tahoe, CA) was second for the women, while Maddie Mastro (Wrightwood, CA) and Chase Josey (Hailey, ID) were third for the women and men respectively.

For White, it was a huge win, as he used a run that he has never landed in competition before—a run that included a Cab double cork 1440. Only two other men have landed that trick in competition; with the backside double cork 1260 he threw later in the run, it was an unbeatable combination.

“I wanted to come out of the gates swinging,” he said of the run. “I knew everyone was going to be going for their hardest runs. I had to step it up.”

VAIL, CO (March 3, 2017) – Jamie Anderson (South Lake Tahoe, CA) scored her 11th Burton US Open podium on Friday, with a second-place finish on the challenging Vail slopestyle course. Chris Corning (Silverthorne, CO) was the top American finisher for the men, with one of the best runs of his career, landing him in fifth.

Anderson, who has never missed the US Open podium in 11 attempts, was very happy to make the podium, considering she was riding with an injury. “I’m riding with a broken elbow right now, so I’ve been super mindful this week,” she said after her second run. “I wasn’t sure I was even going to compete, so I’m super happy to put a run down.”

Anna Gasser of Austria took her first US Open title and Spencer O’Brien of Canada rounded out the podium in third. Julia Marino (Westport, CT), who qualified through to the final in fifth, was forced to drop from Friday’s competition after a hard crash in warm ups. She finished sixth overall.

BOKWANG PHOENIX PARK, South Korea (Feb. 16, 2017) – Parallel giant slalom riders competed in a successful test event for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games last week at Bokwang Phoenix Park Resort in PyeongChang. U.S. athlete Aaron “AJ” Muss (Rumson, NJ; Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club) posted his career-best finish to-date, breaking into the top 10 with a seventh-place finish.

Conditions were perfect on the 560-meter course which had all the ingredients for a superb show. With steep parts and natural rollers as well as flat sections, riders got an excellent first taste of what to expect next February. In only his second year on the World Cup tour, Muss’ seventh place was an impressive individual finish. Two years ago, Muss suffered a life-threatening, postoperative pulmonary edema after having routine shoulder surgery, but has recovered and has his sights set on an Olympic berth next year.

BOKWANG PHOENIX PARK, South Korea (Feb. 16, 2017) – The FIS halfpipe World Cup tour culminates this week with the official test event for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games.

The halfpipe riders are the final athletes to visit the Bokwang Phoenix Park in South Korea, and the buzz going around amongst riders is that the Olympic halfpipe is one of the best in the world.

All eyes are on Chloe Kim (Torrance, CA), who won the first two stops of the World Cup Tour at the Copper Mountain Toyota U.S. Grand Prix in December and LAAX Open in January. Kim could secure her first crystal globe if she bests China’s Jiayu Liu in South Korea. Also keep an eye on Kelly Clark (West Dover, VT) who made a huge step in her comeback from hip surgery with a win at the Mammoth Toyota U.S. Grand Prix in early February.

MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN, CA (Feb. 13, 2017) – Toby Miller (Carlsbad, CA) and Anna Valentine (Ludlow, VT) topped the halfpipe field at the Toyota U.S. Revolution Tour on Saturday, while Hailee Mattingley (Sandy, UT) won slopestyle for the ladies on Sunday.

After a week of adverse weather conditions that rescheduled and postponed multiple events, everybody was happy to see competition go down this weekend. The conditions were not perfect on Saturday however, with winds and fresh snow making the halfpipe a challenge to ride.

Miller, who was riding with a broken wrist suffered in a training session with snowboard legend Shaun White (Carlsbad, CA), was—in his own words—ecstatic. “I can’t be more stoked,” Miller said after the competition. “Everybody out there rode amazing; everybody was out there swinging and doing their best. The pipe was kind of a little rough out there but everybody handled it like champions.”
