PARK CITY, UT (Oct. 5, 2015) – The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) has announced the promotion of Grand Prix Tour Director Eric Webster to senior director of events. He has worked full time with the USSA for over 10 years, serving as Grand Prix tour director since 2004. In his new role, Webster will be responsible for the management and implementation of all the USSA’s elite event properties.

“Web has been an integral part of making U.S. Grand Prix freeskiing and snowboarding events which are some of the best in the world,” said USSA Vice President, Events Calum Clark. “His leadership will be invaluable as we continue to produce and host world class events across the United States.”

This season, Webster will be responsible for overseeing a total of six domestic World Cups as well as the Revolution Tour, alpine NorAm tour and national championships for alpine, freestyle, cross country, ski jumping and nordic combined. The 2015-16 event schedule is highlighted by a big air snowboarding and freeskiing event at Fenway Park, with fan favorite world cups at Deer Valley Resort and Park City also on the schedule.

“Calum and our events staff have built USSA’s events into very successful entities,” stated Webster. “I look forward to taking on the responsibility of preserving the vitality of these events and looking at ways to take our department to the next level.”

U.S. Snowboarding and U.S. Freeskiing Events Director Nick Alexakos will head up management of the U.S. Grand Prix going forward as Grand Prix tour director. Now in its 20th season, the U.S. Grand Prix is the longest running, season-long winter action sports tour featuring the best freeskiing and snowboarding athletes in the world. The USSA’s Revolution Tour, a key stepping-stone for athletes making the transition from competing at the grassroots level to the elite level, will be overseen by Event Manager Sarah Welliver. Both Alexakos and Welliver, who have been with the USSA for over five years, have been instrumental to the success of the Grand Prix and Rev Tour to date.

“The USSA’s event staff is well versed in managing major national and international events,” said Clark. “We are looking forward to an exciting season and providing a world class experience for our fans and athletes at events of all levels.”
