USSA Announces National Club Day Parade

PARK CITY, UT (February 4) - A parade of snowsport athletes spanning from Vermont to Alaska will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2014, as part of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s (USSA) first annual National Club Day. All Olympic snowsports will be represented including alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, ski jumping, freestyle and freeskiing. This event is a celebration of the more than 400 skiing and snowboarding clubs across the nation that educate and train skiing and snowboarding athletes, some of whom go on to be Olympic competitors. The parade will also rally support coast-to-coast for Olympic athletes competing in Sochi, Russia.

HIGHLIGHTS

• The first annual National Club Day will be hosted Saturday, February 15, 2014.

• All Olympic snowsports will be featured in a parade of clubs spanning from Vermont to Alaska.

• This event recognizes over 400 USSA clubs that help educate and train future Olympians.

• The parade will feature athletes as young as five years old ski jumping at the Flying Eagles ski club in Eau Claire, WI, as well as older athletes that may have their sights set on competing in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games and beyond.

• Individual club communities made up of children, athletes, parents, coaches and officials provide avenues for lifelong involvement in the sports and high-quality experiences plant the seeds for the success and support of the U.S. Ski Team, U.S. Snowboarding and U.S. Freeskiing.

• Together with USSA clubs, the USSA provides leadership and direction for tens of thousands of young skiers and snowboarders who share an Olympic dream while maintaining a strong adherence to core values.
