PARK CITY, UT (Jan. 7, 2015) – The U.S. Freestyle Ski Team will send a strong team of 14 athletes to Kreischberg, Austria Jan. 14-25 for the 2015 FIS Freestyle Ski & Snowboard World Championships. The Championships include events in freestyle, freeskiing and snowboarding, with aerials and moguls events taking place Jan. 14-19.

Defending world champion in moguls, Hannah Kearney, will once again be on the hunt for a World Championship title. This will be Kearney’s last World Championships before her retirement at the end of this season. She has won six World Championship medals in her career, including two gold.

“I am looking forward to competing in Kreischberg, especially because it is a new venue for me,” said Kearney. “This is my last chance to win a World Championships title in dual moguls and I am excited about the challenge. Because Worlds does not count towards the overall World Cup standings, in some ways, the event comes with less pressure and therefore better skiing.”

Kiley McKinnon, who finished 14th at 2013 Worlds in Voss, Norway, had a very successful start to the 2015 season with two podiums at the first aerials World Cup in Beijing, China. McKinnon is looking to carry that momentum with her to Kreischberg.

“I want to build on the success that I had in Beijing and be able to land my tricks and do them as best as possible,” said McKinnon. “In Norway at Worlds, I wasn’t really where I needed to be yet, so I’m excited to go to Kreischberg as a stronger jumper and hopefully do well.”
