TELLURIDE - MOUNTAIN VILLAGE, CO (Dec. 13) - Ski Cross USA's John Teller (Mammoth Lakes, CA) skied his way into the semifinals in the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup at Telluride, but just missed the finals finishing seventh to lead the USA. Slovenian Filip Flisar won a close men's final with Swiss Fanny Smith taking the women's title. It was the first U.S. World Cup stop for the skicross tour in three years. The race was broadcast live on Universal Sports TV and the USSA Network.

I had a terrible start on my first run – I don’t know if I was awake yet. I was really focusing on that start for the quarterfinal and I nailed it. I got up front with Filip (Flisar) and I knew I didn’t have to pass him. It was almost better to just draft him and get to the finish first and second. That plan worked out.
In the semi, I was trying to avoid traffic and had a big crash in front of me. Trying to move out of the way of everything, if you’re not running a flat ski you’re not going to be pulling ahead. And that’s what put the last nail in the coffin for me. Happy to get into the small final and finish seventh. A good day.
It’s awesome to come back here to the states and be racing in front of the home nation crowd. I’ve got my mom, my sister, my dad here and everyone else in Mammoth is watching on live TV.
