Preview: Women's Slalom

SCHLADMING, Austria (Feb. 15) -  Fresh from an irmpressive sixth in her World Championships debut in GS, World Cup slalom leader Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail, CO) will be among the favorites in Saturday's final women's race at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Schladming. Shiffrin will start fifth in slalom with Resi Stiegler (Jackson, WY) running 26th. Run times are 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. with NBC broadcasting same-day coverage at 3:00 p.m. EST followed by Universal Sports Network at 4:00 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • World Cup slalom leader Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail, CO) will be among favorite Saturday in the slalom at FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Schladming.
  • Shiffrin will start fifth with Resi Stiegler (Jackson, WY) 26th.
  • who has three top ten finishes in Audi FIS Alpine World Cup giant slaloms this year.
  • Mancuso is tied for the most World Championship wins by an American with Lindsey Vonn and Bode Miller.
  • Laurenne Ross (Bend, OR) will also start. 
  • 139 athletes from 55 nations are expected for the race, historically the largest field of the World Championships.
  • NBC will broadcast at 3:00 p.m. EST with Universal Sports Network carrying same-day coverage at 4:00 p.m. EST
  • A sellout crowd of over 30,000 fans are expected.
  • The 2015 FIS Alpine Ski World Championships will return to the USA for Vail/Beaver Creek 2015.
