PARK CITY, UT (February 6, 2016) – Matt Ladley (Steamboat Springs, CO) followed up his X Games gold medal with another dominating performance, winning his first FIS Snowboard World Cup at the U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix at Park City.
Ladley, who won the X Games gold in a one-run-and-done format due to weather last week in Aspen, was happy to earn the win at the next big competition of the season.

“It’s definitely not the way I would want to win X Games,” Ladley said. “I kept saying we’ll go to the next contest, and it worked out here again for me, so I guess just on to the next one.”
Jake Pates (Eagle, CO) took fifth for the men and combined with his fourth place finish at the Mammoth U.S. Grand Prix, he claimed the U.S. National Halfpipe title. Greg Bretz (Mammoth Lakes, CA) was sixth and Brett Esser (Breckenridge, CO) was seventh.

The U.S. Grand Prix at Park City is a test event for the 2019 World Championships in Park City. The U.S. Grand Prix tour will continue February 10-12 with a groundbreaking event: the Polartec Big Air at Fenway, a scaffolding big air event situated in the center of one of America’s most iconic baseball venues: Boston’s Fenway Park. Never before has the U.S. Grand Prix featured a big air-only event, and never before has freeskiing and snowboarding been presented in such an historic American venue. It was great, I’m happy - I had a lot of fun first of all, which was nice, and just rode better than I have in a while. This year I just really want to go big because that’s what I have fun doing. I don’t really like chucking myself - those big tricks are definitely part of it and they’re getting much more comfortable for me - but going fast, going big and riding well, that’s my favorite part about this and so that’s what I focus on and I did that well today.
It’s great to be back on top of the podium, I’m always close, but I’m finally back on top.
