HIGHLIGHTS
Olympian Taylor Fletcher (Steamboat Springs, CO) skied another impressive race Sunday, earning the fastest time of the day for the second day in a row and finishing sixth in the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup in Chaikovski.
Fletcher started the 10k cross country portion 2:15 back and took the fastest time by a 26-second margin over Norway’s Truls Soenstehagen Johansen, while Austria’s Wilhelm Denifl took the victory.
High winds forced officials to cancel the large hill jump in Sunday’s event, so the cross country portion was seeded with Friday’s provisional jump results, where Fletcher finished 43rd.
Fletcher also posted the fastest time in Saturday’s individual Gundersen 10k event, finishing sixth on the same cross country track.
Next, the men head to Chaux Neuve, France Jan. 11-12 for a pair of nordic combined World Cup events.
QUOTES Taylor Fletcher These results are great for my mental level. I know that I can compete with the best again. I look forward to more chances and better jumps as well.
Russian snow is very difficult. Sochi was very wet and slow and Chaikovski was cold and slow. I think slow conditions are great for me.
