CORTINA D'AMPEZZO, Italy (Jan. 26) - Two-time Olympian Stacey Cook (Mammoth Mountain, CA) led the U.S. Ski Team with 13th in super G Sunday, the last of four races held over four days in Cortina to close the Olympic qualification period. The U.S. Alpine Ski Team nominations to the 2014 U.S. Olympic Team will be announced at 2 p.m ET. Swiss Lara Gut won for her fifth victory of the season as weather and a tricky set forced 19 athletes off course, the highest DNF rate for women's super G all season. Universal Sports Network will broadcast the race at 11 a.m. ET.

We definitely had some huge wind gusts and we had some totally calm conditions. We had the wind sometimes in front and sometimes in back with the visibility changing all the time. So it was very, very challenging.
Some of our girls didn’t get hit with any of that, it was just flat light. Other ones that were up front like Riesch came to the bottom at the flats to a complete stop and then in her case had tailwind and still picked up third. It was definitely for some of them flooky.
Some of them probably in the flat light and in those conditions probably didn’t put everything on the edge enough. But it was a race and we expected them to do better. They are capable of doing a lot better. In some sections we definitely weren’t too lucky, but you’ve always just got to force the luck and ski better.
