Louie Vito erupted onto the snowboarding scene in 2005 and has stayed on top ever since. Training for the Olympics, competing around the world, and winning over the hearts of America on Dancing With the Stars, Louie is exceptional at all he does.

Vito has won four of the past six U.S. Grand Prix Overall Championships, five X Games medals and two Winter Dew Tour Cup overall titles. With his remarkable presence in the halfpipe and endeavors off the mountain, he has cemented his place as one of the greatest snowboarders of his generation.

In 2014 Vito continued to prove his competitive prowess by earning his fifth X Games medal while serving as the co-host for the event’s live television broadcast. He narrowly missed making his second Olympic team, landing in fourth place at three out of the five Olympic qualifiers. With a second-place finish in the 2014 Word Snowboard Tour halfpipe rankings, you can be sure that Vito isn’t done dominating the big ditch.

      LOUIE SAYS
You always want to stay on the forefront of new tricks that are going down. You know, when the double cork came out, you heard rumors of people trying different ones, and then you try to figure out what works for you.

      FIRST TRACKS
Vito learned how to snowboard at a 300-vertical-foot hill called Mad River Mountain, which is only about five minutes from his childhood home in Ohio. He started out on skis but thought snowboarding looked cool, so he tried it and was hooked. He says, “Since Ohio isn't known for their mountains, my public school had a hard time understanding why I would miss school to travel and snowboard, so my parents decided to let me go to Stratton Mountain School. I went there for the winter of eighth grade and all through high school. They let you snowboard in the morning and go to school in the afternoon and travel as long as your grades were alright.”

      OFF THE SNOW
Each year Vito holds the “Louie Vito Rail Jam” in his hometown at Mad River Mountain. The event is held to mentor young riders, who are given the opportunity to get outfitted in Vito’s premium gear and compete without an entry fee. The Rail Jam supports local charity St. Vincent De Paul through money raised from auction items and food donated for the food bank by everyone who attends.

When he’s not snowboarding or traveling, Vito is posted at his house relaxing. He says “Sometimes I go skating or clean my house from the winter disaster I make inside, and just hang with the homies, since they are always in and out all winter also.”
