Rooted in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, Ida Sargent claims a maple syrup manufacturer as a sponsor and trains in the summer amongst the endless trails of the Craftsbury Nordic Ski Center. Sargent also can boast a Vermonter’s native ease on skis—the Dartmouth graduate is a consistent World Cup point scorer and a constant contributor to the very strong women’s team. Her top finish came in the opening World Cup race of the 2014-15 season with a fifth-place result at the Ruka, Finland classic sprint. Sargent carried that momentum into the 2015-16 season where she had another impressive race early in the season in Ruka, finishing seventh in a classic sprint. Later in the season, Sargent had consistent top-25 results and scored fifth in the team sprint with Sophie Caldwell in Plancia, Slovenia. She prepares for the upcoming seasons with Craftsbury Green Racing Project in Craftsbury, VT.

      FIRST TRACKS
Sargent grew up in Vermont as the youngest in a family of nordic skiers, so her parents put her on skis about as soon as she could walk. Not long after she started racing, she fell in love with the sport and hasn’t looked back.

      OFF THE SNOW
Sargent has done a balancing act with skiing and college, studying biology and psychology at Dartmouth College. She would like to become a physical therapist at some point after she's finished ski racing. Her off-hill hobbies include running, biking, canoeing, reading, gardening and drinking maple syrup.
