Colorado native Bobby Brown made freeskiing history in 2010 by becoming the first skier to win two X Games gold medals (slopestyle and big air) in one appearance. Four years later his name was once again etched into the freeskiing history books when he represented his country on the inaugural U.S. Olympic Team for slopestyle skiing in Sochi, Russia.

Brown’s X Games success in 2010 vaulted him to freeskiing poster boy status. That same year, Brown won the Junior World Championships for slopestyle, topped the overall AFP rankings and snagged silver in the Euro X slopestyle, all before his 19th birthday. In 2011 he made the podium in X Games Aspen big air, won the Dew Tour slopestyle title, took the AFP World Champs slopestyle title and became the first skier to ever land a triple cork 1440. In the 2012 season, he mined more X Games gold in big air at Aspen and in slopestyle at Euro X.

After recovering from two broken ankles in 2013, Bobby jumped right back onto the competition circuit as an Olympic hopeful. He placed in the top five at all five of the Olympic qualification events, including a win at the Breckenridge Grand Prix and a second-place finish at the Park City Grand Prix, where he clinched his ticket to Sochi. Brown finished ninth in Sochi and helped deliver the first glimpse of Olympic slopestyle skiing to the world. Capping the season with a third at The Dumont Cup and a second in the AFP slopestyle rankings, 2014 was a banner year for Brown.

In 2015 the Denver kid earned his fifth X Games medal--silver in Big Air. He then went on to win the Dumont Cup and the AFP World Tour finals (slopestyle) and placed second at the Jon Olsson Invitational. At the 2016 X Games in Aspen Brown earned another silver medal in Big Air with a left triple 1440 high mute under incredibly challenging, snowy conditions. It was his fifth XG big air medal, his sixth overall.

FIRST TRACKS
Brown, a Colorado native, was nine years old when he got his start on skis. Growing up in the Denver suburbs, he would build ramps and jumps in his yard to simulate a terrain park. Brown started competing on snow at age 11 with Team Summit’s moguls team, but he spent most of his time in the terrain park. He credits the program and coaches for nurturing his passion for air during his younger years. In high school, Brown and his friends drove up to ski Summit County on weekends “no matter what.” He became a pro skier at 16 years old and graduated a semester early from Cherry Creek High School in 2009. Brown then moved to Breckenridge and won the first-ever Dew Tour overall for slopestyle, where he says, “it all took off.”

OFF THE SNOW
Like most pro skiers, Brown enjoys his downtime to the fullest. You can find him perfecting his latest trick on the trampolines or skating at the park with friends. He also enjoys art. He splits time between his apartment in Denver and Breckenridge, where he grew up skiing.
