Interns/students pursuing Human Resources studies work as unpaid interns get hands-on, real life training and experience. This helps interns broaden their understanding of the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) , a non-profit professional sports organization environment, techniques and strategies to maximize USSA's objective to be Best in the World.
 
 

Human Resources Internship

 

Have you always dreamed of working in the action sports industry? Do you have a passion for skiing and snowboarding? Do you want to further your education while gaining experience from the leader in winter sports governance? The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) has an opening for an unpaid Human Resources intern in its Park City headquarters. This educational opportunity is ideal for a Human Resources student or graduate looking to gain practical experience in the best national governing body and world-class sports organization. As an intern on our team, you will be a part of the USSA's vision of making the United States of America the best in the world in Olympic skiing and snowboarding.

Internship Summary
As a USSA Human Resources intern, you will have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of how to implement and train staff on how to use industry leading Performance Review and On boarding software. With a focus on implementation of HR technology, you will get a "hands on" internship that will prepare you for HR opportunities in the future.

A sample of specific opportunities to gain important knowledge:

• Immerse yourself in the implementation of Performance Review and On boarding Software. Learn to customize software to accomplish USSA's performance goals. Create training tools and conduct training with staff.

• Learn new and innovative ways to distribute information to USSA Staff and improve communication and performance including configuration of Employee Website and Forms, video, email distribution and other electronic distribution to staff all over the nation and world.

• Learn the grassroots of how to create, maintain and grow employee relations. Assist with various HR activities from researching and updating HR software and processes converting to paperless electronic systems. Contributing ideas, drafting custom fields of employee profile and goal setting pages.

• Learn other important organizational skills through general staff support, organizing staff training meetings on-site as well as webcast.

Required Skills and Background

To gain the most from this educational experience, the intern will be selected based on the following criteria:
• Must be a student or graduate in Human Resources or a related field
• Critical thinking skills with the ability to determine proper contact categories
• Strong background in working on web including web content management systems and overall IT skills
• Strong background working with Microsoft Office and Web based management systems
• Strong organizational skills
• Positive, upbeat presence with others, including USSA staff and external contacts
• Self-starter, with ability to complete projects in the timeline established
• Attention to detail
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to participate in an educational environment and to learn new skills

Internship Duration
This internship is designed to last (approximately April to September). While start and end dates are flexible, candidates who are able to commit to the full duration of this internship will receive preference.

Terms
All USSA Interns are subject to background screening as a condition of participating in the USSA Internship program. Interns will also be required to sign a "Confidentiality Agreement" and show proof of health insurance coverage. Formal documentation from intern's learning institution stating all internship requirements and educational relevance of the internship if applicable. The intern is mentored directly by the Director of Human Resources and interacts with the Insurance and HR Administration Manager.
