INTERNSHIPS

Interns/students pursuing Events studies work as unpaid interns get hands-on, real life training and experience. This helps interns broaden their understanding of the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) , a non-profit professional sports organization environment, techniques and strategies to maximize USSA's objective to be Best in the World.
 
 

Events Department Intern

 

The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association Events Internship provides education, experience and exposure to the management of major events in Olympic Alpine, Freestyle, Free Skiing, Nordic Skiing, and Snowboarding. The Events Intern will be tasked with projects instructed by the Events Project & Snowboard Event Managers.

 

Schedule:

•           October 1, 2013 – April 4, 2014 (Flexible schedule, as required by intern for scholarly credit.)

•           Possible travel for Grand Prix/Rev Tour.

 

Primary Internship Projects:

•           Event info updates on websites.

•           Athlete parent info distribution.

•           Cash prize management and tracking.

•           Other projects that provide educational experience as agreed upon.

 

Grand Prix and Revolution Tour Projects:

•           Athlete confirmation.

•           Database assistance of Grand Prix/Revolution Tour athletes.

•           Production of rider information packets for each event.

•           Coordination with USSA membership in processing memberships and other license materials.

•           Event Registration Desk at Grand Prix/Revolution Tour

•           Other projects that provide educational experience as agreed upon.

 

Special Events Experience (Tentative opportunity depending on availability and interest):

•           Fundraising Events such as Ski Balls. (Travel TBD)

 

Internship Environment and Reporting Authority

•           Non-paying internship.

• Internship will be located in the Park City office of USSA, without gas reimbursement or housing.

•           Education will be provided by Events Department staff under direction of Event Project Manager.

•           Cost of travel, lodging and meals during events are provided.

 

Attributes and Required Skills:

•           Adherence to USSA Core Values

•           Organizational skills, with attention to detail.

•  Intermediate level of computer skills including working with the internet, spreadsheets, and word processing.

•           Effective verbal and written communication skills.

•           Ability to set and achieve goals.

•           Familiarity with sports organizations and/or skiing/snowboarding is preferred but not required.

•           Successful Completion of the USSA Background Screening.

•           Completion of the USSA Volunteer/Intern Confidentiality Agreement.

•           Proof of Health Insurance.

•           Formal documentation from intern's learning institution stating all internship requirements and educational relevance of the internship if applicable.

INTERNSHIPS ARE CONTINGENT ON SUCESSFULLY COMPLETION OF USSA'S BACKGROUND SCREENING. COMPLIANCE WITH SCREENING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MAINTAINED. SCREENING CRITERIA AVAILABLE BY CLICKING HERE.

COMPLETION OF THE USSA EMPLOYEE CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT

PROOF OF HEALTH INSURANCE
