Club Development Manager

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Club Development Manager is responsible for delivering high quality education, resources and recognition for the USSA's 400+ affiliate clubs.  The Club Development Manager shall have a strong working knowledge of all aspects of ski and snowboard club leadership, operations, programming and performance. The Club Development Manager will continue the development of content and delivery systems for the USSA Club Development System. Its goals are to support and strengthen the USSA affiliate clubs to provide Best in the World programming.

 

The purpose USSA Sport Education Department is to enhance the quality of athletic programs in alpine, nordic, freestyle, freeskiing, and snowboarding with programming aimed at coaches, parents, athletes, clubs and sport leadership. We deliver content for and deliver educational programs and resources of the highest quality, in accordance with USSA's core values, designed for an American system built around long-term athlete development and sustainable athletic excellence.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Implement and oversee the USSA Club Development Program
    • Direct the club certification program
      • Train and manage an expert club consultant team to certify affiliate clubs
      • Track club certification status and timelines
    • Develop the club education program
      • Build self-guided learning modules through the USSA Sport Education Center LMS (Moodle)
      • Manage a club visitation program for in-club delivery of education and resources
      • Organize and deliver annual Club Excellence Conference in conjunction with USSA Congress meetings
      • Update contents of USSA Club Handbook
    • Oversee USSA club recognition program
    • Create club resources
      • Direct current resources in a way they can be easily accessed and used
      • Create new resources
  • Support the development of the Club AMP tool, working closely with USSA High Performance Director, Competition Services Director, USSA IT department, and AMP developers
    • Focus on the creation of club tools and resources
    • Promotion of coach education and certification
    • Design Level 300/400 sport management curriculum to train future club leaders in the areas of staff management, fundraising, budgeting, event operations, etc.
  • Research innovative platforms for delivery of educational content
  • Manage content for the USSA Excellence e-newsletter
  • Track budgets, survey feedback and other metrics relating to the Club Development aspects of the business plan for use in evaluation and planning

 

SECONDARY DUTIES

  • Support Sport and Education Departments in the development and implementation of SkillsQuest
  • Support the venue excellence program in conjunction with the Alpine Sport Committee
  • Support coaches education by developing and reviewing content for coaching clinics and conferences
  • Support the club development program by assisting with coach certification tracking for clubs

 

This position works from the USSA Center of Excellence in Park City, UT.  Hours are generally 8:00am to 5:00pm on weekdays.  Occasional weekend, early morning or evening work may be required during special events or projects.  This position is paid a salary and is exempt from overtime pay.

  • Event organization experience
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity within a ski or snowboard club, or a leadership position
  • Confident public speaker
  • Impartial, positive reputation in ski and snowboard community
  • Passion and enthusiasm for all sports under the USSA umbrella
  • Technologically proficient – quickly learns and effectively implements new technology (on-line LMS, web editing, web/video conferencing, multi-media presentation)
  • Always looking to learn and improve
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Experienced and efficient with Microsoft office applications, basic web editing, and database management software
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Attention to detail
  • Team player capable of working with a variety of departments and people

 

REPORTS TO

Sport Education Director

 

Works closely with Alpine Sport Education Manager, USSA Sport Directors and Managers, High Performance staff, USSA IT Department and USSA Image and Design staff.
