FAIRLEE, VT (Nov. 21) – World Cup Supply, Inc. (WCS), a supplier for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA), announced today that it has acquired 300m (984 ft.) of inflatable air pads from SPM s.p.a. of Italy. This safety system, used for primarily for alpine ski racing and super moto-bike racing, will be available for rent throughout North American and represents World Cup Supply’s ongoing commitment to providing the infrastructure required to make action sports as safe as they can possibly be. The new system will debut at the Nature Valley Aspen Winternational in Aspen, CO on Nov. 29-30th. WCS recently renewed its partnership agreement with the USSA which includes the exclusive supply of air pads for multiple USSA organized events over the next five years.

Air pad systems from Italian manufacturer SPM, s.p.a. (Brissago, IT) utilize a state-of-the-art continuous inflation system powered by efficient electric air pumps that maintain constant pressure to absorb high speed impacts.  These FIS (International Ski Federation) approved and FIM (International Moto-Bike Federation) homologated air pads, are widely considered the best system available. SPM air pads have been required at the most demanding alpine ski racing venues and super moto-bike track through-out Europe, including the legendary Hanenkahmm alpine downhill track at Kitzbuhel, AUT and Moto GP racing at Mugello.  Engineered to absorb and dissipate the energy of a fallen athlete, air pads from SPM are also used for bicycle racing and slope-style ski and snowboard events.  World Cup Supply, Inc. will offer two sizes of pads: 8mLx1.3mWX1.3mH (26ftx4ftx4ft) to 3mLx1.3mWx1.3mH (10ftx4ftx4ft) which makes the system scalable to suit the specific needs of any given sport or venue.

“Our goal is to offer the finest safety equipment along with the technical support, on or off-site, to meet the demands of hi-speed action sports.  The new pads are a great addition to our safety related product line and will be available through our air pad rental program.  The two sizes will allow customers to choose the configuration that best suits their sport and venue and we believe that scalability is a key part of the offering, along with the technical support” commented Brad Williams of World Cup Supply, Inc.  Williams added: “This is a large investment for World Cup Supply, Inc. and a true reflection of our commitment to safety in action sports”.
