PARK CITY, UT (Jan. 9, 2015) – Olympians Alex Deibold (Manchester Center, VT), Justin Reiter (Steamboat Springs, CO), Ty Walker (Stowe, VT), and Ryan Stassel (Anchorage, AK) lead a team of 23 riders representing the U.S. at the 2015 FIS World Snowboarding Championships in Kreischberg, Austria Jan.15-25. The 2015 World Championships will mark the start of 2014-15 season for snowboardcross riders whose early season events were cancelled due to lack of snow. Three-time snowboardcross World Champion Lindsey Jacobellis (Stratton Mountain, VT) and the rest of the heavy hitting snowboardcross squad will be looking to bring the heat to Kreischberg before heading directly into the X Games on Jan. 23 in Aspen, CO.

This year’s World Championship freestyle snowboarding team is a solid mix of up-and-comers like Chase Josey (Sun Valley, ID) and Brett Moody (Anchorage, AK) along with seasoned veterans Benji Farrow (Mount Holly, VT) and Ryan Stassel (Anchorage, AK). The 2015 World Championships will be the first time FIS will crown a women’s big air World Champion and Ty Walker, winner of the first-ever women’s FIS World Cup big air, is eager to repeat her success in Kreischberg. “I’m looking forward to Kreischberg, and hoping I can hold my place as the leader. It would be so insane to be a World Champion,” said Walker.

QUOTES
Ty Walker, Olympian, Slopestyle Snowboarding

I’m really excited to head over to Austria. I’ve always loved competing in Europe and I am stoked to be heading to Kreischberg with such an awesome group of athletes! This will be my second FIS World Championship and last time I got fifth, so hopefully this time I can step it up even more.

I’m looking forward to Kreischberg, and hoping I can hold my place as the leader. It would be so insane to be a World Champion.

Alex Deibold, Olympic Bronze Medalist, Snowboardcross
I'm excited to be heading to World Champs. It only happens every other year and I think that's what makes it so special. We've got a great team and everyone is riding well, so I'm really looking forward to it. After the recent loss of two ski team athletes, I think we all have a little bit more to ride for this time.

Jeremy Forster, U.S. Snowboarding and U.S. Freeskiing Program Director
We have a great group of athletes representing USA. Kreischberg is a proven organizer and look forward to them hosting a great World Championships.
