Women's Jumping Exhibit Unveiled |

PARK CITY, UT (June 30) – Women’s ski jumpers were honored as a part of Olympic Day celebrations with the unveiling of a new exhibit honoring the athletes at the Alf Engen Ski Museum at the Utah Olympic Park. The top five American women including World Champions Sarah Hendrickson and Lindsey Van (both Park City, UT) of the U.S. Ski Team, who grew up on the nearby 2002 Olympic ski jumps. The displays feature a collection of photographs, skis, uniforms, medals and trophies of the women who have grown their sport athletically and taken it to its upcoming Olympic debut in Sochi next February.
HIGHLIGHTS
- World Champions Sarah Hendrickson and Lindsey Van (Park City, UT) were among top ski jumpers on hand for unveiling of a new exhibit honoring women’s ski jumping at the Alf Engen Ski Museum at the Utah Olympic Park on Sunday, June 30.
- The exhibit features photographs, ski, uniforms, medals and trophies tracing the path of the women who grew their sport athletically and positioned it for its Olympic debut in Sochi next February.
- Five of the top American ski jumpers were on hand including Hendrickson, Van, Jessica Jerome, Alissa Johnson and Abby Hughes – all of whom grew up on the nearby 2002 Olympic jumps.
- Utah Olympic Park’s Olympic Day was one of more than 700 events taking place nationwide between June 21 and 30. The events, designed to engage youth and promote the ideals of the Olympic movement, feature athlete appearances, family-friendly activities and interactive learning experiences.
Around the world, more than 160 countries take part in the annual celebration. Olympic Day, created in 1948 to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games, focuses on the Olympic values and ideals such as fair play, perseverance, respect and sportsmanship.

We have cheered these athletes on their journey to the Olympics since opening our museum in May 2002.
