Winters Top 10 Again at Junior Worlds

ROGLA, Slovenia (April 3, 2016) –Billy Winters (Steamboat Springs, CO) continued his FIS Junior World Championships success with a seventh-place finish in parallel slalom on Sunday.

Winters also placed sixth in parallel giant slalom on Saturday and will compete again at Junior Worlds in snowboardcross April 4-6.

Grant Abrahamson (Chanhasen, MN) was 15th for the men, with Zach Lulavy (Golden Valley, MN) 23rd and Devin Dougherty (Easton, PA) 34th. Myles Silverman (Brunswick, ME) DNFed.

Maggie Carrigan (Steamboat Springs, CO) led the U.S. women, finishing 22nd. Karina Bladon (Wayland, MA) was right behind her in 23rd and Emily Dziak (Bethlehem, PA) was 38th.

Up next at the Junior Worlds, the snowboardcross athletes will also compete in Rogla. Jake Vedder (Pinckney, MI) and Meghan Tierney (Edwards, CO) will lead a team of strong snowboardcross contenders. Vedder was the 2016 gold medalist in snowboardcross at the Youth Olympic Games in February.

  • Billy Winters took seventh in PSL, after taking sixth in PGS at Junior World Championships.
  • Next up, athletes will compete in snowboardcross to wrap up Junior Worlds in Rogla, Slovenia.
