BOSTON, MA (Feb. 10, 2016) - U.S. Snowboarding rider Ty Walker (Stowe, VT) will not compete in Thursday’s Polartec Big Air at Fenway. Walker crashed in training Wednesday. According to U.S. Snowboarding Medical Director Kyle Wilkens, Walker suffered a back injury but is expected to be back to competition soon. She will sit out Thursday’s World Cup as a precautionary measure.
Julia Marino (Westport, CT)—also a New England native—will compete in Walker’s place. The 18-year-old has a number of top results on the U.S. Revolution Tour, including a first place finish in the big air at Mammoth Mountain last season.
