Hannah Kearney (Norwich, VT) has been named as a finalist for the Women’s Sports Foundation’s 2015 Sportswoman of the Year Award.

Founded in 1974 by tennis legend Billie Jean King, the Women’s Sports Foundation works with girls and women to advance their lives through sports and physical activity. Each year, they nominated two categories in their Sportswoman of the Year Award: Individual Sports and Team Sports.

Kearney celebrates winning the 2015 moguls globe and overall freestyle globe.

Kearney was nominated for the individual award because of her FIS World Cup title in moguls and the overall title in freestyle. During the 2014-15 season, Kearney won five world cups, took home two medals at the 2015 FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships, including a gold in dual moguls, and skied to her fifth national title. She retired after the season, tying fellow American Donna Weinbrecht for the most World Cup wins in freestyle at 46.

Voting started on August 17 and concludes at 11:59 p.m. EST on August 31. Winners are determined by a combination of public vote (50 percent) and the Women’s Sports Foundation’s Awards Committee’s vote (50 percent).
