Calgary, AB (Jan. 3, 2015) – Mogul queen Hannah Kearney (Norwich, VT) edged out Canadian sisters Chloe Dufour-Lapointe and Justine Dufour-Lapointe on their home turf to earn her 43rd World Cup victory on Saturday at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary. Kearney is now just three World Cup wins away from the all-time freestyle moguls record, currently held by U.S. Freestyle alumna Donna Weinbrecht.

“It feels good to be back on top of the podium,” said Kearney. “Both of my runs had really good components overall, so looking forward I want to put that all together in one run. I just enjoyed it today and that helped me ski a little more aggressively.”

The U.S. had four other women finish in the top 20 with K.C. Oakley (Piedmont, CA) in 11th, Keaton McCargo (Telluride, CO) in 15th, Mikaela Matthews (Frisco, CA) in 16th and Ali Kariotis (Tiburon, CA) in 17th.

It was a good day for the men as well, with three U.S. skiers finishing in the top 10. Bryon Wilson (Butte, MT) just missed qualifying for the second final, finishing seventh. Teammates Troy Murphy (Bethel, ME) and Jeremy Cota (Carrabassett Valley, ME) followed close behind in eighth and ninth. Canadians Mikael Kingsbury and Simon Pouliot-Cavanagh skied to first and second place finishes, with Japan’s Sho Endo finishing third.

The U.S. moguls and aerials teams are both back in action next weekend at the Visa Freestyle International at Deer Valley Resort in Utah. All events will be streamed live on NBC Sports Live Extra. Fans can also watch a broadcast of the event on Sunday, Jan. 11th at 1 p.m. ET on NBC.

QUOTES

Hannah Kearney
It feels good to be back on top of the podium. I had a really good layout on my first run and good mute on my second run and that was when I skied the fastest.
Both of my runs had really good components overall, so looking forward I want to put that all together in one run.

I’m continuing to focus more on the technical aspects of my skiing instead of results. I just enjoyed it today and that helps me ski a little more aggressively.
