U.S. Rookies Win Top Spots at Revolution Tour

COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO (Dec. 17, 2014)—The first U.S. Revolution Tour of the season took place this week at Copper Mountain, CO with U.S. Rookie Team riders Gabe Ferguson (Bend, OR) and Maddie Mastro (Wrightwood, CA) taking home top honors in the halfpipe competition, with Jake Pates (Edwards, CO) and Finnish rider Kristiina Nisula, winning the slopestyle titles.

Ferguson landed a frontside double cork 1080 to outdo Korean rider Kwang-ki Lee—who finished second—and third place Dutch rider Do Wal Van Der in Copper Mountain’s 22-foot halfpipe. On the women’s side, Mastro linked a backside 540 tailgrab to a crippler 720 to beat Japanese riders Kurumi Imai and Junna Asaya.

On the slopestyle courses, Jake Pates (Edwards, CO) led an American men’s slopestyle sweep, besting Chris Corning (Arvada, CO) in second and Dylan Thomas (Brooklyn, PA) in third. Nisula landed a clean frontside 720, edging out halfpipe phenom Chloe Kim (La Palma, CA) and up-and-comer Hailey Langland (San Clemente, CA) to walk away with the women’s slopestyle title.

  • Gabe Ferguson’s winning halfpipe run: front 900, backside 900, frontside 720, cab 720, frontside double 1080.
  • Maddie Mastro’s winning halfpipe run: method, frontside 540 drunk driver, backside 540 tail, crippler 720, cab 360, and two straight airs.
  • Jake Pate’s winning run: back lip, backside 540, cab double 900 mute, cab double 1080
  • Kristiina Nisula’s winning run: boardslide 270, frontside 180 out, cab 540, frontside 720

The U.S. Revolution Tour continues with stop number two at Seven Springs Mountain Resort, PA Jan. 28-30.
