ANCHORAGE, AK (July 13, 2016) – After spending time scattered from coast to coast training with home clubs, the U.S. Cross Country Ski Team athletes jetted to Anchorage, AK for camp.

With ideal weather throughout the first week of dryland training, every day included peak bagging. “We’d pick a mountain, big or small, and go climb it!” wrote Jessie Diggins (Afton, MN) in her blog. Long, slow distance training was incorporated in the mountain running, while the athletes focused their intensity and speed workouts in rollerskiing.

Olympian and new mother Kikkan Randall (Anchorage, AK) was also present, towing along her new baby boy. “It's been really special to see Kikkan and her new baby, Breck!” wrote Sophie Caldwell (Peru, VT) in her blog. “He has a lot of U.S. Ski Team aunties who have been passing him around any chance we get.”

Next up, the athletes take a helicopter to Eagle Glacier for some actual skiing, holding back the intensity and focusing on putting hours in on the snow.
