KETCHUM, ID (March 19, 2015) – Sun Valley has long been a legendary location for the U.S. cross country ski community to close out a racing season. Years of Spring Series events, great weather and a skiing culture that’s distinctly American make it every much a celebration as a race season finale. With temperatures warming towards spring and snowpack lower than average this year, the time will be tight to sneak in the SuperTour Finals and Spring Series events scheduled.

The events will largely be a test of who has any racing petrol left in the tank. Liz Stephen (East Montpelier, VT), hot off a top-ten overall finish in the World Cup distance standings will be on form for all the races. Caitlin Gregg (Minneapolis, MN) who medaled at the World Championships and skied to another third place at the Engadine Marathon will be on hand to showcase the form that’s pushed her into international contention this year.

The SuperTour finals event is largely the only time the big names from the U.S. Ski Team and the larger development community compete together. “All the (U.S. Team) guys will be there. Kikkan Randall has closed out her season and Jessie Diggins is fighting a cold but may race the 30K,” Coach Matt Whitcomb explained. The race series begins on March 21 with a 10k / 15k classic event and concludes on March 26 with the 30k / 50k National Championships.

EVENTS
March 21 – 10k / 15k Classic
March 22 – Freestyle Sprint
March 24 – 4x5k Mixed Relay
March 26 – 30k / 50k Freestyle
