For the first time since 1999, the Alaska Cross Country Ski Hall of Fame will induct skiers, coaches and trail builder to their coveted halls at Kincaid Park, Alaska. Among the celebrated, Kikkan Randall will be named.
Randall, an Anchorage native, has had a successful cross country ski career, including four Olympics, 17 national titles, 26 World Cup podiums and two World Championships medals.
"It's a real honor to be inducted into the Alaska CC ski hall of fame. Alaska has a great tradition of Nordic skiing and it was the heroes, coaches, volunteers and the supportive community that helped me reach the top level of international skiing," said Randall about the award. "I am incredibly humbled to be in such great company with my fellow inductees and I really hope projects such as this Alaska Cross Country Ski HOF continue the strong legacy of Nordic skiing in Alaska and inspire our future champions."
In addition to Randall, 12 other Alaskans will be announced to the Hall of Fame, including Lynn Spencer—a member of the U.S. Olympic team in 1976, 1980 and 1984—and Judy Rabinowitz—who competed both on the World Cup and in the 1984 Olympics.
