Teamwork and being a good teammate are qualities that make a team successful. Many parents say “teamwork” or “learning to be a good teammate” is one of the most important life lessons kids can gain from playing youth sports. It even has an impact beyond the playing field with experiences at home, in school, within our community and even at our jobs. However, in the drive to win and perform at one’s best, these values can take second place. Liberty Mutual Insurance Play Positive™ asks parents and coaches: What teamwork quality could your kid’s team improve upon?

To learn how you can teach kids teamwork by helping them understand what is, how to practice being a good teammate, and celebrating good sportsmanship among teammates, read the article “Success Through Teamwork”.

Try this great exercise – either with your individual athlete or your team – to help get players focused on being a good teammate, see “4 Steps To Build Teamwork”.

The Liberty Mutual Insurance Play Positive™ program promotes good sportsmanship in youth sports so that our kids can have the fun and positive experience they deserve.  We believe kids can learn valuable life lessons when coaches and parents come together to support doing the right thing on and off the hill.
