PARK CITY, UT (Dec. 27) – Olympic gold medalist Billy Demong (Vermontville, NY) and other U.S. nordic combined athletes finished up their final training Friday on the cross country track in preparation of the 2014 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Nordic Combined at Utah Olympic Park. Top U.S. athletes will compete Saturday for a single spot on the 2014 Nordic Combined Olympic team with a jump at Utah Olympic Park and a cross country race on the track nearby at Kimball Junction, the gateway to Park City, which will allow optimal viewing for spectators.

- The U.S. Nordic Combined Ski Team, which makes its base in Park City, won four medals in Vancouver including an historic first gold for Demong, so all the athletes are hungry for another chance at Olympic medals.
- Both men's and women’s ski jumping trials will commence Sunday. Women's jumping will make its Olympic Trials debut Sunday with the winner becoming the first female ski jumper to qualify for the historic 2014 U.S. Olympic Team.

It’s been a great legacy venue to add. This was developed over the last couple years and being right at the bottom of the Utah Olympic Park gives us not only a great training spot, it’s fully groomed with a cat, but it also gives us a really visible place to ski close to Park City and hold events where a spectator can stand and see the entire race unfold.
I think we saw this morning that we’re still a big team and we’re relaxed around each other, but this is big event and there is definitely some anxiety because it would be really nice to have a spot clinched tomorrow. We have five or six guys who are all vying to win this event and I think we’ll all be one big team when it’s all over, but tomorrow I’m sure you’ll see people taking care of business personally a little bit more.
