MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN, CA (Feb. 13, 2017) – Toby Miller (Carlsbad, CA) and Anna Valentine (Ludlow, VT) topped the halfpipe field at the Toyota U.S. Revolution Tour on Saturday, while Hailee Mattingley (Sandy, UT) won slopestyle for the ladies on Sunday.

After a week of adverse weather conditions that rescheduled and postponed multiple events, everybody was happy to see competition go down this weekend. The conditions were not perfect on Saturday however, with winds and fresh snow making the halfpipe a challenge to ride.

Miller, who was riding with a broken wrist suffered in a training session with snowboard legend Shaun White (Carlsbad, CA), was—in his own words—ecstatic. “I can’t be more stoked,” Miller said after the competition. “Everybody out there rode amazing; everybody was out there swinging and doing their best. The pipe was kind of a little rough out there but everybody handled it like champions.”

Miller was joined on the podium by Jason Wolle (Winter Park, CO) in second and Robert Pettit (Aspen, CO) in third.

Valentine was also thrilled to top the competitive women’s field under the challenging conditions. “It was a really good day,” she said. “First run I was definitely doubting myself but I pulled through in finals.” Noelle Edwards (Mt. Snow, VT) took the second spot while Zoe Kalapos (Vail, CO) rounded out the podium in third.

Other Americans in the halfpipe final: Chase Blackwell (Longmont, CO) was fourth; Summer Fenton (San Francisco, CA) was fourth; Judd Henkes (La Jolla, CA) was fifth; Madison Barrett (West Chesterfield, NH) was fifth; Josh Bowman (Mammoth Lakes, CA) was sixth.

Sunday was a much-needed beautiful day at Mammoth Mountain, and the Unbound slopestyle course was on point. “Today was sick—perfect conditions, super sunny,” said Mattingley, the first place winner for the ladies.

Third-place finisher in slopestyle for the men, Lukas Caye (Minneapolis, MN), agreed. “The course was amazing, best course I’ve ever ridden, hands down,” he said.

Mattingly was joined on the podium by second-place finisher Haille Soderholm (Salt Lake City, UT) and Baily McDonald of Canada in third.

Chandler Hunt (Park City, UT) was the top finisher for the Americans with a second place. Kiroaki Kunitake of Japan took the win.

Other Americans in the slopestyle finals: Sean Fitzsimons (Hood River, OR) was fourth; Ty Walker (Stowe, VT) was fourth; Henkes was fifth; Nora Healey (Plymouth, NH) was fifth; Dylan Thomas (Kingsley, PA) was sixth; Serena Shaw (Bondville, VT) was sixth; Nicholas Belbas (Edina, MN) was seventh; Keegan Hosefros (Truckee, CA) was eighth; Benjamin Milam (Chisago City, MN) was 10th; Luke Winkelmann (Blowing Rock, NC) was 11th; Spencer Vaughan (Steamboat Springs, CO) was 12th.

The next stop of the Toyota U.S. Revolution Tour will be at Seven Springs, PA March 6-10 and will feature slopestyle and halfpipe competitions.

QUOTES
Toby Miller – First Place, Halfpipe, Men
I can’t be more stoked. Everybody out there rode amazing; everybody was out there swinging and doing their best. It couldn’t mean more to me to come out on top—I’m ecstatic. I was really stoked, the pipe was kind of a little rough out there but everybody handled it like champions.

Ana Valentine – First Place, Halfpipe, Women
It was a really good day. First run I was definitely doubting myself but I pulled through in finals.

Hailee Mattingly, First Place, Slopestyle, Women
Today was sick—perfect conditions, super sunny.

Jason Wolle – Second Place, Halfpipe, Men
It started off kind of rough because the pipe was not the highest quality but it really filled out in the end. I was really proud of (my run) because (my coach) and I have been practicing that for a long time.

Noelle Edwards – Second Place, Halfpipe, Women
I feel pretty good, it was definitely a tough day. I had to keep the energy up with it getting postponed two times, but I’m stoked. The pipe was awesome and everyone worked really hard to make the event happen.

Robert Pettit – Third Place, Halfpipe, Men
It was kinda rough conditions—the pipe hadn’t been open the entire week and (we just) had to come in and get it done. Mammoth did a good job to get it open and get it going; just to have a contest was sick. My riding was not bad—it was good for the conditions, I felt like I did pretty well.

Lukas Caye – Third Place, Slopestyle, Men
Today was awesome, we couldn’t have asked for a better day: bluebird skies, no wind. The course was amazing, best course I’ve ever ridden, hands down.

Zoe Kalapos – Third Place, Halfpipe, Women
I was happy with my riding. With the tough conditions in the pipe it was definitely very challenging mentally for me to overcome, but I was happy to put down a run and land up in third.
