Kearney Highlights Deer Valley World Cup

DEER VALLEY, UT (Jan. 26) – Olympic gold medalist Hannah Kearney (Norwich, VT), who recently notched a record 11th straight FIS Freestyle World Cup victory, will headline the Feb. 2-4 VISA Freestyle International. The three-day event will showcase aerials, individual moguls and the crowd favorite dual moguls at Deer Valley, nearly 10 years to the day after the site hosted the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The competition marks the 10th anniversary of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City
  • Deer Valley will be dedicating a surface lift to two-time Olympic medalist Jeret “Speedy” Peterson. The tow-rope will be christened “Hurricane”
  • The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, in partnership with Deer Valley Resort, will be hosting the annual Ice Men Clinic, where patrons can spend a day skiing with former Olympians and other notable U.S. Ski Team athletes
  • Current and former U.S. Freestyle athletes will be on Main St. Feb. 1 for autograph signings and photos

MOGULS

  • Olympic Champion Hannah Kearney set a record FIS Freestyle World Cup win streak with an historic 11 consecutive victories
  • Patrick Deneen (Cle Elum, WA) has 10 FIS World Cup podium finishes, with one win
  • Heather McPhie (Bozeman, MT) won her first World Cup at Deer Valley in 2010
  • Sho Kashima (S. Lake Tahoe, CA) earned his first two World Cup podium finishes this season

AERIALS

  • Emily Cook (Belmont, MA) a two-time Olympian has two World Cup wins, and seven podium finishes, most recently coming in second in Mont Gabriel this Jan.
  • Allison Lee (Manchester, CT) made the finals in each of her first two World Cup starts
  • Dylan Ferguson (Amesbury, MA) had back-to-back finals appearances last week in Lake Placid
