FELDBERG, Germany (Feb. 12, 2017) — Four-time world champion Lindsey Jacobellis (Stratton Mountain, VT) battled for a second-place podium finish at the second World Cup snowboardcross race of the weekend at Feldberg on Sunday.
In her 46th career World Cup podium appearance, Jacobellis was barely edged by 2014 Olympic gold medalist Eva Samkova of the Czech Republic. France’s Chloe Trespeuch beat World Cup leader Belle Brockhoff of Australia in a photo finish for the final spot on the podium.
Hagen Kearney (Telluride, CO) made the big final for the men, but was taken out over the first stepdown by Austrian Alessandro Haemmerle. Kearney went down hard, yet was able to finish the race, finishing just off the podium in fourth. Australia’s Alex Pullin capitalized on the crash, racing to the win after coming in as the top qualifier. Jarryd Hughes was second to make it 1-2 for the Australians and Haemmerle was third.
Other Americans in the top ten: Faye Gulini (Salt Lake City, UT) was seventh; Alex Deibold (Boulder, CO) was 10th.
The snowboardcross World Cup tour will take a three-week break before it continues at La Molina, ESP March 4-5.
