Guldemond Fights to Second at Dew Tour

BRECKENRIDGE, CO (Dec. 16) – After extreme blowing winds and snow Chas Guldemond (Reno, NV) was able to overcome the treacherous conditions and take second at Dew Tour slopestyle snowboarding finals. His run featured near perfect double backside rodeo that he was able take all the way to the bottom of the jump. In a tough competition Guldemond was one of the few in the field of competitors who was able to put down an impressive run despite the adverse conditions. Next up for halfpipe athletes is the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix and FIS World Cup at Copper Mountain Jan. 9-13.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Chas Guldemond (Reno, NV) took second at the men’s Dew Tour slopestyle snowboarding finals.
• Guldemond’s second run secured his second position with a run that featured a double backside rodeo and smooth cab double 1260 that earned him a 90.75.
• Teammate’s Sage Kotsenburg (Park City, UT) and Eric Willett (Breckenridge, CO) ended up in 9th and 10th respectively due to tough weather conditions that caused them to come up short on the final jumps.
• Canada’s Mark McMorris took first with Norway’s Staale Sandbech in third.
• Next on the competition circuit is the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix and FIS World Cup at Copper Mountain Jan. 9-13 featuring both halfpipe and slopestyle.

I see all of these competitions as great training in my goal to make it to the Olympics. The weather was really tough today, but I think we all did our best and are having fun which is what snowboarding is really all about. I’m really happy with my finish today and glad I was able to  keep my speed up despite the wind and snow. After the holidays I am really looking forward to head to Copper for the Grand Prix.
