STONEHAM, Quebec (Feb. 21, 2015) – Eric Beauchemin (Grand Blanc, MI) took third place in men’s big air and Jessika Jenson (Rigby, ID) second in slopestyle, each earning their first career World Cup podiums at the FIS Snowboarding World Cup in Stoneham, Quebec.

Thousands of people flocked to Ilot Fleurie in downtown Stoneham under the lights to watch the second and final FIS big air of the season. On an exceptionally icy jump, Beauchemin put down a cab 1080 double cork mute on his first run and a frontside 1080 double cork on his third run securing a third place spot on the podium behind Canadian’s Tyler Nicholson and Darcy Sharpe who each landed 1260s in their runs.

“It was a tough practice and tough day but I got through and ended up on the podium. So, I couldn't be happier.” Beauchemin said.

After falling on her first two runs, Jenson put together a clutch third run performance, putting together a cab 540, frontside 360 and a backside 540 to earn a 90.5 score and a second place finish behind Dutch veteran Cheryl Maas.

“I was feeling some pressure falling in my first and second run. But we had three runs. I was pretty nervous and it was like all or nothing, so I just put it on the line and I'm stoked I put it down.

Snowboarding action continues in Park City, UT for the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix Feb. 26-Mar.1. Slopestyle and halfpipe snowboarding will be broadcast on NBC and NBCSN. Finals will be streamed live on NBC Sport Live Extra.

QUOTES

Eric Beauchemin, 3rd place, big air
It was pretty sweet to get my first World Cup podium. It was a last minute decision to come to Quebec and now I’ve very happy I ended up coming. The city was rad and the jump was located right by the highway bridge, which made it look even cooler. The jump was pretty icy but manageable and my coach Bill Enos, spent a lot of time sharpening my edges before the finals.

Jessika Jenson, 2nd place, slopestyle
I was feeling some pressure falling in my first and second run. But we had three runs. I was pretty nervous and it was like all or nothing, so I just put it on the line and I'm stoked I put it down.
