PARK CITY, UT (June 15, 2016) – Aspiring young Olympians will have the opportunity to train at the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s (USSA) Center of Excellence this month when ELITEAM ‘s conditioning camp returns to Park City for the third year. This year’s camp is scheduled for June 20-24.

Created by two-time Olympian and World Championship medalist Doug Lewis and former World Cup racer Kelley Lewis, ELITEAM conditioning programs focus on teaching the often overlooked concepts of sports physiology, sports psychology and sports nutrition. At the Park City camp, campers will get the opportunity to work closely with USSA’s strength and conditioning coaches and U.S. Ski Team members Alice McKennis, Jared Goldberg, Liz Stephen and Laurenne Ross.

“ELITEAM is more than a set of conditioning camps and team-building programs, it is a philosophy,” stated Lewis. “It is a way of life where the focus is on fun, healthy living, learning, growing, setting goals and pushing your limits, both mentally and physically.”

Some of the camps alumni include Mikaela Shiffrin, Warner Nickerson, Alice Merryweather, Sandy Vietz and Griffin Brown. Summer 2016 marks ELITEAM’s 25th year with six camps in Park City and Vermont locations with 260 athletes ranging from the age of 8-14 years old. The camps held in Utah will utilize the elite Park City recreational options including mountain biking, hiking and sandpit slalom.

“The campers love it because we have fun,” continued Lewis. “The parents love it because their athletes actually learn something about being a complete athlete. We also hear from parents that the number one thing their kids get from ELITEAM is confidence, and confidence is a skill you need to succeed in life.

New to the ELITEAM conditioning program this year is the Girls Power Camp. Lead by Kelley, this weekend retreat includes multiple daily workshops to teach skills aimed at helping young girls navigate the challenges of their sport and daily lives with a feeling of confidence and empowerment. The Girls Power Camp will be held during an August session of ELITEAM in Vermont.

“The goal is to provide a focused path forward in which the girls can more easily tap into their inner strength and confidence,” said Kelley. “We hope to inspire them to push their limits with a strong body and powerful mind.”
