KITZBUEHEL, Austria (Jan. 27) - Dartmouth grad David Chodounsky (Crested Butte, CO) remained consistent with 21st in Kitzbuehel for his fourth Audi FIS Alpine World Cup points scoring slalom of the season. World Cup overall and slalom leader Marcel Hirscher brought the crowd to a rocking crescendo as he became the first Austrian to win the Hahnenkamm slalom since 2005. German Felix Neureuther was second ahead of Croatian Ivica Kostelic, who captured the only traditional combined of the season. The World Cup tour now moves to Moscow for a City Event before the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships open Feb. 4 in Schladming.
HIGHLIGHTS
- David Chodounsky (Crested Butte, CO) posted the top American slalom result with 21st to close the 73rd Hahnankamm race week in Kitzbuehel.
- Austrian overall and slalom leader Marcel Hirscher won to trade places with Wengen slalom winner Felix Neureuther of Germany, who was second.
- Ivica Kostelic produced a thundering second run to finish third and capture the traditional comined paring the dowhill and both runs of slalom.
- Ted Ligety (Park City, UT), Will Brandenburg (Spokane, WA) and Andrew Weibrecht (Lake Placid, NY) did not finish the first run.
- Travis Ganong (Squaw Valley, CA) was in the combined, but went out in the second run of slalom.
- Ligety moves to Moscow for a City Event prior to the Feb. 4 open of the FIS Alpine Ski World Chamionships.
- The U.S. Ski Team will name its World Championships roster on Monday, Jan. 28.
- Universal Sports Network will air the slalom at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Ted is skiing with a little more emotion than normal and that might not have helped. He's had a tough couple of weeks, we didn't think he'd come out of these two weeks with 40 points, we were hoping for at least 150.
The conditions today didn't allow for the kind of aggressive skiing Ted brought.
Chodounsky is showing all the right steps and is now 24th in the World Cup slalom standings. He had a massive mistake in the second run and could have easily skied out, but he hung in there.
