Sierra at Tahoe native Maddie Bowman is the 2014 Olympic Champion in Halfpipe Skiing. Her background in alpine ski racing helped develop a platform of excellent technique that she brings into freestyle skiing.
Maddie’s victory at the Vermont Dew Tour stop in 2012 launched the start of her successful freeskiing career. A few weeks after the Vermont Dew Tour stop, Maddie was runner up at the 2012. X Games in Superpipe. She went on to win X Games back to back in 2013 and 2014. In February 2014, Maddie became the first ever gold medalist in women’s halfpipe skiing at the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.
This May Maddie had surgery on her knee and is now spending time in Park City, UT doing rehab at the Center of Excillence and attending college at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Maddie expresses her love for the outdoors by spending time skiing, mountain biking, and spending time at the beach.

How/when did you decide you wanted to compete: I switched over to park and pipe when I was 13. From there I just started getting better and competitions were just something you did.
Biggest accomplishment in your career so far: Winning the 2014 Olympics. And winning bad to back at the Winter X-Games
Goals for next season: Just to keep having a good time and skiing. Maybe learn some new tricks.
Favorite snow destination: Sierra at Tahoe
Favorite non-snow destination: The beach, where ever it is.

If you weren't a professional athlete what would you be: A full-time college student haha I’m only part-time right now.
Time you've been most scared in your life: When I was skiing backcountry when I was younger and i was climbing a very steep face.
Biggest vice: Snickers bars
Biggest pet peeve: When people aren't humble.
Advice to others who want to follow in your footsteps: Just make sure you are having fun, no matter what you want to do in life!
