PARK CITY, UT (June 16) – Two-time Olympic medalist and World Champion Hannah Kearney (Norwich, VT) headlines a talent deep group of 36 athletes nominated to the 2014-2015 U.S. Freestyle Ski Team for aerials and moguls. The 2015 season is highlighted by World Cup stops in both Lake Placid, NY and Deer Valley, UT along with the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships Jan. 16-25 in Kreischberg, Austria.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Thirty-six athletes have been nominated to the 2015 U.S. Freestyle Ski Team.
- Two-time Olympic medalist and World Champion Hannah Kearney (Norwich, VT) seeks to defend her overall and moguls World Cup title
- Two-time Olympian Ashley Caldwell (Ashburn, VA) and first time Olympian Mac Bohonnon headline a young aerials team already focused on the 2018 Olympics.
- Five newcomers have been nominated to the team this year, following outstanding performances last season – Moguls: Thomas Rowley (Long Beach, NY), Morgan Schild (Pittsford, NY). Aerials: Harrison Smith (Rochester, NY), Zach Surdell (Marcellus, MI), Si Ning Chan (Maine, NY).
- Sophia Schwartz (Sun Valley, ID) had an outstanding 2014 season with a top-ten finish in every moguls World Cup she attended.
- Jonathon Lillis (Rochester, NY) posted three top-20 finishes including a career best fourth at Deer Valley, UT during the 2014 aerials World Cup season.
- The 2015 FIS Freestyle World Cup season opens Dec. 13 in Ruka, Finland for moguls and Dec. 20-21 in Beijing, China for aerials.
- The tour swings to the United States Jan. 8-10 for the Visa Freestyle International in Deer Valley, UT and Jan. 29-31 for the 2015 Freestyle World Cup in Lake Placid, NY.
- The 2015 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships are slated for Jan. 16-25 in Kreischberg, Austria.
