Norge Ski Club
Norge Ski Club- Fox River Grove, Illinois The Norge Ski Club just outside Chicago is one of the oldest nordic ski clubs in the world, the club being organized back in 1905 by a group of Norwegians, most of whom lived in and around Chicago. This past October, the Norge Ski Club did organize and conduct the USSA National Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined National Championships, in what was a very well run and operated competition, drawing large crowds to watch the event from Chicagoland, and giving the sports great visibility in print media and on television. Not only was that weekend event superbly managed and conducted but they also hosted the USASJ's first-ever event, "The 24 Hours of Ski Jumping", which raised much needed funds for the development wing of the sport, USA Ski Jumping (USASJ). In going above and beyond the Norge Ski Club helped the USASJ to raise more than $22,000 which goes directly to athlete development, in what is an all-volunteer organization. These funds helped US jumpers compete this winter on the World and Continental Cup ski jumping circuits.
