Steamboat local Ryan Dyer started off in an alpine racing program, but he kept sneaking off to ski moguls. Dyer made the switch to freestyle at age 12, and decided to pursue his Olympic dreams full time after high school. Dyer made the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team in 2010, but fell back in the ranks in 2013 due to injury. After a lot of physical and mental work, Dyer dominated the NorAm tour in 2015, earning four first-place podiums and the overall title, landing him back on the national team. He complemented his success on the NorAm tour with two top-20 World Cup finishes. Dyer was plagued by injury once again in 2016, but he plans to return for the 2017 season.

      FIRST TRACKS
Growing up in Denver, Dyer had always wanted to be a baseball player. Once he moved to Steamboat that changed. Every kid in town wanted to be a skier. So, all of the sudden, Dyer wanted to be a skier as well. He got fifth place in his first freestyle even and was instantly hooked.

      OFF THE SNOW
Dyer enjoys hanging out with his friends and family, especially traveling with them. He also love to golf and actually played on his high school golf team. "I like playing all types of sports," says Dyer. "If it involves athletics, I’m in!"
