Patrick “Paddy” Caldwell extends the legacy of the Caldwell skiing family—his father was a World Cup racer in the late 1970s and early 1980s and he's the cousin of teammate Sophie Caldwell. Caldwell had an impressive 2014-15 season, where he finished in the top 20 in both of the distance races at the FIS U23 World Ski Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan and demonstrated strength in the domestic races. Racing for Dartmouth College, Caldwell also won the NCAA Championship 10k freestyle race held in Lake Placid. Caldwell carried his momentum from the previous season into the 2015-16 season. His efforts at the 2016 U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships in Houghton, MI earned him a spot on the U23 World Ski Championships team, where he represented the U.S. in Rasnov, Romania. Caldwell also claimed podium finishes at the SuperTour races including first in a 10k freestyle race and a third in a 15k freestyle race in Craftsbury, VT during the 2016 USSA SuperTour Finals. This is his third year on the U.S. Ski Team, named after an impressive 2014, which saw him earn his first All-American nod as a Dartmouth freshman and ski to an incredible 10th at the Junior World Ski Championships Skiathlon 10k. Caldwell skis with Stratton Mountain School Elite Team in addition to the Big Green and U.S. Ski Team. FIRST TRACKS OFF THE SNOW |
