Born and raised in Park City, UT, slopestyle master McRae Williams was destined to be a skier. After a few years of paying his dues on the competition circuit, Williams earned his spot amongst the sport’s elite by putting together technical moves on rails and going huge with tricks like his switch triple cork. All the hard work paid off for Williams, who now has two X Games slopestyle medals in his trophy case, including gold from Tignes in 2013.

Williams had a breakout year in 2013, when he bagged the gold medal in slopestyle at X Games Tignes and then went on to win the Red Bull Total Fight event. With a podium finish at the Austrian Freeski Open to boot, he realized his potential and set his sights on making the inaugural U.S. Olympic slopestyle team the following season.

Despite a grueling schedule of Olympic qualification events in the 2014 season, Williams managed to put down strong top-five performances. Unfortunately, his results didn’t land him a spot on the Olympic team, but his season wasn’t over. Williams headed to X Games Aspen and took silver in slopestyle and then a second consecutive win at the Red Bull Total Fight event.

The 2015 season brought a host of podium finishes for Williams, including winning the SFR Freestyle Tour and taking second in slopestyle at the AFP World Tour Finals. In 2016 Williams had great success on the U.S. Grand Prix Tour with a second-place finish at Mammoth Mountain and fourth at the historic Fenway Park big air event.

Although slopestyle is William’s specialty, he loves to shred pow and build kickers in the backcountry, ski urban features and film video parts that show his all-around skills.

FIRST TRACKS
Growing up in a family of skiers from Park City, UT, it was inevitable that Williams would get into some sort of snow sport. As a youngster, he competed in trampoline and then went to the Olympic park to try aerials. He saw all of the crazy off-axis tricks the skiers were throwing and he couldn’t help himself—he was hooked on freeskiing. He took it to the park with his friends and the rest is history.

OFF THE SNOW
During the summer, when he’s not coaching for Fly Freestyle at the Utah Olympic Park, you can find Williams enjoying all of the outdoor activities that Utah has to offer: rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking, wakeboarding and he still loves bouncing on trampolines. He's a role model for kids and wants to utilize his skiing to inspire them to find their own passion and work towards making it the center of their lives through hard work, positive attitude and strong ambition.
