Lyon Farrell has action sports stardom in his genes. His mother was a two-time Windsurfing World Champion and won a gold medal in wind surfing at the first-ever X Games and Lyon's father is a legendary big-wave surfer.
Lyon started out skateboarding and surfing from a young age in his hometown of Haiku, Maui, but it was learning to snowboard in his father’s home country of New Zealand when he was 10 years old where he truly found his calling. After a training camp in Breckenridge, Colorado, when he was 12, the young Hawaiian started entering slopestyle and halfpipe contests, eventually earning a second place at USSA Nationals in 2013 and second and fourth place finishes at FIS Junior Worlds in 2014.
The 2015 season Lyon continued to make progress toward his Olympic aspirations earning at respectable sixth place finish at the U.S. Revolution Tour in Seven Springs, PA and a ninth place finish at the World Rookie Finals.
