As one of four skiing kids in a ski racing family, the path to the U.S. Ski Team was pretty clear for Julia Ford, who was ripping around Vermont's Okemo Mountain Resort at age three. She spent three seasons on the U.S. Development Team and a couple on the "Trench Tour” (AKA NorAm/Europa Cup) before she was able to score World Cup points during the 2012 season. She has been making positive strides on the World Cup tour ever since. Positive evidence includes her first Olympic start in the Sochi slalom with a 24th after landing some more World Cup speed points in the Lake Louise downhill, where she finished 21st. Now a year into an equipment switch to Volkl/Marker, “Fordo” is starting to feel the vibe again and is stoked to be back in the mix during the 2015 World Championship season. JULIA SAYS Now that I’ve had experience on most of the World Cup downhill tracks, I should be able to trust my abilities more and let my skis run. It’s not as much about learning them anymore. Now it’s about learning how to go fast on them. FIRST TRACKS OFF THE SNOW |
