Snowmass local Jordie Karlinski has been on snow since she was two, and she landed on her first professional podium at the 2011 Burton Euro Open. From there, her consistent backside and cab spins earned her a third-place finish overall at the Dew Tour, third at the New Zealand Open and an invite to X Games Tignes. Not bad for this 5’4” firecracker.

In 2013 Karlinski took sixth at the U.S. Revolution Tour, which qualified her for the Burton U.S. Open, where she took 10th. She then finished her season strong with a second at the NesCafe Champs in Leysin, Switzerland. =

The 2014 season proved to be Karlinski’s best yet. She earned her first Grand Prix podium after walking away with a second-place finish at the Mammoth Grand Prix. She finished just shy of the podium at three of the five Olympic qualifiers.

JORDIE SAYS
I was really happy with how I was riding all season, especially in Mammoth. I was landing runs I had never done before with switch backside 5's and backside 7's in them. That was definitely a highlight. Even though I missed Sochi, I know I was right there with everyone else. I progressed a lot last season in a short amount of time, and I want to keep progressing and pushing my comfort levels! Missing out on Sochi was a huge bummer, but that meant I could finally relax, recharge and ride a lot of powder back in Aspen, something I had missed out on during the beginning of the season. 

FIRST TRACKS
Karlinski started out as a skier at age two. She says, “When we lived in California, my parents would take my sister, brother and I up to Tahoe or Mammoth to ski on the weekends. Once we moved to Aspen, my parents began to snowboard and soon enough my sister, brother, and I were all snowboarding.” She began snowboarding at age six while taking lessons with the Aspen Skiing Company. She eventually joined Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club (AVSC), where she says her riding excelled “because of the dedicated coaches and program.”

OFF THE SNOW
Being a mountain girl her whole life, she says, “I’ve fallen in love with hiking, camping, fly fishing, road biking and golfing in the summer and fall.”
