Former gymnast Heather McPhie came late to moguls skiing, but she's been making up for lost time. In 2010, the Bozeman, Montana native found a new gear and accelerated to her first four career World Cup podiums, including one win in her current hometown of Park City, UT. Her breakout results earned her a trip to her first Olympics in Vancouver.

In 2012, McPhie became the first ever moguls skier to pick up a Red Bull sponsorship. She used her new wings in the 2012-13 season to add five World Cup podiums, three of which were wins, to her skiing resume.

McPhie started out the 2014 season strong with a fourth-place finish in Deer Valley. She then headed to Russia for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games and placed 13th, a five-spot improvement over her Vancouver result. After Sochi, she landed her first moguls podium of the season with a second in Inawashiro, Japan before rounding out the World Cup season with three more top-five results and finishing fifth in the moguls standings.

FIRST TRACKS
Her parents were ski instructors, so when McPhie was finished with gymnastics, she turned to skiing. She tells it best: "Growing up I had always loved mogul skiing, so my parents signed me up for the Bridger Freestyle Ski Team. The first year I competed in all the competitions and rarely made it down without falling, but I immediately loved it. For the first two years, I skipped the jumps because I was petrified of them." She's no longer scared of the jumps. "I feel in love with jumping," she said.

OFF THE SNOW
During the dry months, McPhie is never bored. “I have gotten even more into road biking, and am loving snowboarding after the competitive season,” says McPhie. She also enjoys mountain biking once the trails dry out.
