Western Region Training System
Purpose Statement:
To produce the best alpine ski racers in the world at the developmental, sub-national team level by offering complementary cooperative training with Tri-Regional, Western Region Divisional, and Western Region club and academy training programs/plans.

Goals:
1. To assist management, athletic training, and competition performance programs of the top Western 
    Athletes of U16, U19, U21 and senior age categories.
2. To establish and conduct an athlete talent detection and development system that tracks and
    measures the performance and performance characteristics of top regional racers at various
    chronological points in their ski racing development.
3. To contribute as productively, professionally, and fully possible in the achievement of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Mission of
     being the best nation in ski competition in the world.

Western Region FIS RTG Chile Project Sept 7th-23rd, 2017 Project Announcement

Project Goals:
1. Prepare athletes for upcoming 2017-18 NorAm and U19 National Performance Series
2. Vary the terrain and course sets across the 4 disciplines trained
3. Gliding and jumping in speed environment
4. Regional crossover and collaboration amongst athletes and staff

Western Region FIS RTG Europe Project Oct 5th-24th, 2017 Project Announcement

Project focus: We are excited to offer a new look to our October Europe Project. The goal of the project is to create a fun and competitive environment for the athletes, putting the finishing touches on their off-season preparation.

2017 Mammoth Mountain, CA 

U19 and older:  West Team and Regional Training Group.

The region is excited to offer a November project once again in the West, teaming up with Mammoth Mtn. Resort.  This is a 4-event project, snow permitting, focusing on early season race prep, including NorAms.  Athlete selection will include named WEST Team athletes and RTG athletes ranked from a 4-event NTSM selection board using the 3rd USSA points list.  Arrival is on November 9th, with 9 days on snow over a 10-day period.
 

National Performance series U19 Men

U19 men:  National selection, NTSM FIS points of events contested plus 5 regional.

The National Performance Series brings together the best U19 athletes from across the country at multiple times throughout the winter to compete in a head-to-head training and racing environment.  The goals are to expose young athletes to their national peer group, to stimulate growth through series competition, and to accelerate elite-level development toward international competition.

December 4th-8th, U16 National Performance Series Beaver - Creek, CO

U16 men and women:  National selection, WCP from U16 Nationals.

The U16 NPS is new this year and designed for both genders.  The first project will take place in Colorado, in conjunction with the Beaver Creek Birds of Prey World Cup races, providing our best U16 athletes with a first-hand view of World Cup action and an opportunity to train afterward on a world-class venue.  The second project will take place on the east coast at Burke Mountain.  Results from the two projects will determine the team of 12 athletes who will be selected to compete in the Seven Nations Cup Jan 28th-Feb 11th.
