Summer Aerial Tryout Camps

The Elite Aerial Development Program (EADP) is based in Lake Placid, NY and run by head EADP coach Jaroslav (Jari) Novak (jnovak@ussa.org) and assisted by Jack Boyczuk (jboyczuk@ussa.org)

Up to 12 EADP athletes receive, from the Olympic Training Center (OTC), complimentary year round housing, meals, transportation and facility use including a fully staffed sports medicine clinic, weight room, trampoline gym, water ramp facility and winter aerials site.  In 2017 a fee of $1600/athlete (EAST) $2050 (West) includes year round coaching with 24-hr supervision, trip planning, etc.. High School comes at an additional cost.

Ages of participants range from 14 to 19 years old. About half of the group competes throughout North America on the Nor-Am Tour covering their own winter competition expenses including travel & lodging. The less experienced half of the group jumps in Lake Placid for most of the winter with a focus more on training than competing. This allows them to save money by utilizing the OTC's resources year-round while being able to train more than is typically possible on the Nor-Am Tour. At the end of every winter, the list of the twelve athletes in the EADP is evaluated and potentially changed before a new group is named April 1. Athletes not meeting their obligations will be removed to make room for more dedicated athletes. Athletes who excel in the EADP will eventually move upward to a domestic program or the national team.

Freestyle Skiing/Freeskiing Water Ramp Programs

Following are programs that offer coaching year-round for freestyle skiing (moguls and aerials) and freeskiing (big air, slopestyle, halfpipe). There is water ramping in the summer for skiers and snowboarders who want to safely learn tricks before performing them in the winter and winter sites that are designed to provide the safest atmosphere for jumping on snow.
